BW16 is a high-performance dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 module from Ai-Thinker based on the Realtek RTL8720DN chipset. Supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE 5.0, advanced security, and low-power operation, it is ideal for industrial IoT, smart home devices, wireless gateways, and embedded connectivity applications.

Description

The Ai-Thinker BW16 is a dual-band wireless communication module built around the Realtek RTL8720DN SoC. Unlike conventional 2.4GHz-only wireless modules, BW16 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, providing improved wireless performance in congested environments while maintaining Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 connectivity.

The module integrates a high-performance ARM v8 MCU (Cortex-M4F compatible) together with a low-power ARM v8M MCU (Cortex-M0 compatible), delivering excellent processing capability for IoT edge devices. Built-in hardware encryption engines, TrustZone-M security, and multiple low-power operating modes make BW16 suitable for commercial and industrial wireless products.

With extensive peripheral interfaces including UART, SPI, I²C, PWM, ADC, GPIO, and SDIO, BW16 enables rapid integration into smart home products, industrial automation systems, wireless sensors, gateways, and embedded controllers.
